The more we learn about social media, the clearer it becomes that social media is the place to connect with clients and grow your business.

Most people think that social media is great for young agents and reaching first time buyers.  What you may not realize is that social media is effective for reaching and influencing people of all ages. The more we learn about social media, the clearer it becomes that social media is the place to connect with clients and grow your business.

Still skeptical? According to a new report from Pew Internet & American Life Project, the number of online U.S. adults who use social networking sites continues to grow across all age groups. As of May 2013, nearly three quarters (72%) of online U.S. adults are on social media, up from 67% in late 2012. More surprisingly, the number of seniors using social media has more than tripled in the last four years – about 43% of Internet users aged 65 and older are now on social networks. And, 60% of adults ages 50-64 are on social media, as well.

NAR® statistics show that the average age of repeat home buyers in 2012 was 51, and 84% of buyers say that would definitely use the same agent again. The majority of older adults and seniors on social media are using Facebook, which is also the leading social media platform for real estate professionals.

Staying connected with these clients on Facebook is an easy way for you to keep in touch with past buyers, so your name is on the tip of their tongues when they’re back in the market again.
